We are getting there.
I promise, we are getting there.
But, I thought I would at least share with you our topper on our new Christmas Tree.
This was our tree from last year.
Most of the lights were burned out {and it was a pre-lit tree}. We had it for about 7 years, so it was really a good tree to us. We donated it, so someone else could enjoy it..... even if they had to but forth a little effort with the lights. We decided to get EVEN MORE funky at went with a slim pencil SILVER TINSEL tree, this year! I do have to say.... it made for a little challenge to understand how to decorate it. To make it feel substantial, full and FESTIVE.
I think I made it work!
It stands 7.5' tall without the topper.
With the topper.... about 10' tall!!!!
We removed the color green from our color scheme this year and focused more on teal, red, silver, and gold. I repurposed as much as I could in these colors and the green items.... well, they moved onto my kiddo's new Christmas tree {that will be in another post}.
To make a funky tree topper.... it's all about LAYERS and QUANTITY.
I have loved this star collection for the top of the tree. It has about 8 branches of silver metal stars shooting off. I always put that on first and build everything else all around it.
Then the layer of the red fern branches and silver sprigs came next.
And then the silver branches.....
I form and form and move everything around the entire time I do this to try to make it look balanced and.... well.... make sure the tree actually stays balanced.
That's my secret to our Funky Tree Topper.

It's so BLINGY and SHINY.
I LOVE it!
